Hilos Omega has been producing high quality threads & yarns in Mexico since 1948. Hilo Vela El Globo is their line of embroidery thread that is perfect for all kinds of hand embroidery, cross stitch, friendship bracelets and other handcrafts.
Hilo Vela is mercerized to strengthen the thread, improve colorfastness, and reduce shrinkage, however it is less mercerized than other brands of embroidery floss, such as Cosmo or DMC. The lower level of mercerization produces a thread that has a more matte finish and the individual plies will fluff out more over time to produce fuller stitches. It is this thread that gives traditional Mexican embroidery its distinctive look.
